Contemporary Design Is Blooming in This Geographical Region – Learn More This Weekend

View innovation through another cultural lens at the latest exhibition to hit the Blanton Museum of Art. Making Africa: A Continent of Contemporary Design is dedicated to driving a conversation about the continent’s role in modern design and ideas. Check out what promises to be an awe-inspiring exhibit this Saturday, November 10th.

Making Africa: A Continent of Contemporary Design showcases the work of over 120 artists and designers and illustrates how African design accompanies and fuels economic, social, and political change in the continent. Through sculpture, prints, fashion, furniture, film, photography, apps, maps, digital comics, and more, the exhibition presents Africa as a hub of experimentation that generates innovative design approaches and solutions with worldwide relevance.

Organized by the Vitra Design Museum and the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, Making Africa focuses on a generation of entrepreneurs, thinkers, and designers from and within Africa who address a global audience and provide the world with a new vantage point on their continent. Ranging from playful to provocative to political, their work often breaks conventional barriers between disciplines and expands the potential of design in the twenty-first century.

This exhibition will be on view at the Blanton Museum of Art’s Butler Gallery, located on the ground floor of the museum. Admission to the museum is 12 dollars for adults. Discounts are available for seniors, college students, and youth. Free admission is granted to museum members, University of Texas affiliates, teachers, children 12 and under, and active military.

At Oxford at Tech Ridge Apartments in Austin, Texas, we believe it’s important to integrate yourself into the community, which is why we suggest attending this event. Meeting new people, having unfamiliar experiences, and joining neighborhood activities is the key to an exceptional lifestyle.
